The Microsemi SmartRAID 3162-8i is a professional SATA / SAS RAID controller for servers and workstations that lets you increase the number of connected hard drives. The RAID controller coordinates them and groups them together to manage read and write access. The controller offers a PCIe x8 3.0 port as well as 8 internal ports for SATA or SAS drives via 2 miniSAS SFF-8643 ports. It has 2 GB cache on board as well as an integrated maxCache 4.0 battery module. It’s universally compatible with all known brands. The delivery includes full and low profile brackets.
